Wendell Scholarship Prize books, 1898-

The Wendell Scholarship Prize books consist of loose-leaf scrapbook volumes. Each annual dinner is commemorated by a page holding a photograph of the honoree and page holding a seating plan with autographs of attendees. Some dinners are also represented with pages for photographs of past honorees, guests, and benefactors. Infrequently, a page holds correspondence relative to the history of the scholarships.

Established in 1899 with a bequest from Jacob Wendell, the Wendell Scholarship is awarded "annually to such students as the College authorities shall deem proper, who shall most excel in their studies...." The Jacob Wendell Scholarship prize is awarded annually to a Harvard College student or students on the basis of scholarship and contribution to the College community and without reference to financial need.
